Indore: Super Corridor is set to get longer by 2km. Indore Development Authority (IDA) board on Thursday gave administrative approval of Rs 30 crore for development of RW-2 Road, which will be an extension of Super Corridor, connecting with Indore-Pithampur road to pave way for expansion of airport and development of Scheme 172.

The step has taken after receiving state's in-principle approval to get around 190 hectares of land at Super Corridor and Nainod village to compensate for giving 230 acres of developed land to IT-giants TSC and Infosys. It will about 2km long and 75m wide — as is the current width of Super Corridor. IDA has already announced a residential project — Scheme 172 — along the proposed road.

The area was awaiting development of western bypass and Chandan Nagar ring road. Proposed extension of Super Corridor is expected to benefit commuters of Dhar Road to get a smooth entry in city and will also serve as an alternative route for travelling from Bhopal towards Ahmedabad highway.

While transferring 20 acres to airport authority, district administration had reserved around 3.8 acres to develop a 100-ft wide road behind Bijasan Mata Mandir but now as IDA has started working on its plan to extend Super Corridor it will help in diverting traffic of the stretch paving the way for airport expansion.

The board has planned to develop incomplete major roads (MR) and other routes with the help of people, whose lands are falling and posing as hurdles in its implementation.

"In master plan, major roads are proposed across city. As per new land acquisition act, it will be costly to acquire land to complete proposed roads and thus, the board has planned to provide benefits of Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) and Floor Area Ratio (FAR)," divisional commissioner Akash Tripathi said.

He added that before sending proposal to state government for approval, suggestions from public representatives and locals will be sought.

According to IDA officials, there are 12 routes identified as major roads (MRs) in the plan. Of these, three are existing roads including AB Road passing through the city and identified as MR-1, Nemawar Road passing through the city identified as MR-7 and a major route connecting to Bicholi Hapsi identified as MR-8. Besides, none of the other routes identified as major roads are complete.
